Parent Support

Our individual Parent Support and Planning Sessions are designed to meet your specific needs and support you as a parent raising a child with microtia and atresia. They are a one on one meeting and can be either in person, online or over the phone so location is not a barrier.

The unexpected diagnosis of a new baby with microtia and atresia can be an emotional and difficult time for families. There are usually many extra appointments to attend, negotiation of the health system and other services, coming to terms with your child’s diagnosis, as well as all the usual challenges new parents face. A Parent Support and Planning Session in these early days can help by talking to someone who has been in your shoes. It can assist you in adjusting to these challenges, ensuring you have access to the resources you need, as well as answering any questions you have and getting the support you need.

Parent Support and Planning sessions are available to support families at any stage throughout their journey with microtia and atresia – whenever the need arises.

These meetings are a great opportunity to discuss any issues relating to microtia and atresia including but not limited to –

  • Any concerns you have following the diagnosis of microtia and atresia

  • Reconstruction options
  • Making informed choices
  • Decision making regarding treatment and management options
