About Our Conferences

Microtia and atresia are rare conditions. As a result, families find it extremely difficult to access current, accurate and reliable information, which is vital when making informed choices on the ongoing treatment and management options for their child.

Microtia Atresia Australia is committed to making a difference for children who have microtia and atresia and their families. Our mission is to provide comprehensive information, services and support for children, families and health professionals and strive to be leaders and innovators in the area of microtia and atresia.

One way we can work towards this mission is through our Microtia and Atresia Conferences. Our conferences provide current up to date and evidence-based information. They bring together experts and families to help children born with microtia and atresia through education, support and research.

Conference Objectives

Our conference objectives are to:

  • Build knowledge

To help parents and carers better understand microtia and atresia and apply best practices to support their children on a daily basis.

  • Support your child

To improve parents’ understanding of the current treatment and management options for children with microtia and atresia so they can make informed choices to optimise their child’s outcomes.

  • Connect with others

Our conferences also provide a unique opportunity for children with microtia and atresia and their families to meet, connect and support each other. Parents can also engage directly with surgeons, hearing technology reps and other health professionals.

Our Microtia and Atresia Conferences may be available at no out-of-pocket cost to families who have children with self or plan-managed NDIS plans as the registration cost may be fully covered through your NDIS plan. You will need up to 8 hours or parent training available in your plan to be fully reimbursed.

Our parent conferences fall under CB Improved Daily Living – Training for Carers/Parents in your NDIS plan.
